Microblading and Powdered Ombre brows are the two most popular terms in permanent makeup. In short, both are highly effective techniques for eyebrow reconstruction. But for someone who has just found out about permanent makeup, the two terms can be confusing.
Although both procedures involve the eyebrows, the terms are not interchangeable. Both are distinct. Even the results do not look the same.
So if you are contemplating getting new eyebrows, this blog is exactly what you might be looking for. If you stick till the end, you will learn which procedure is suited for you.
Microblading – What is it?
This technique involves creating hair-like strokes with a handheld tool. The needle scratches the surface of the skin and transfers the semi-permanent pigment along the strokes. It might sound intimidating but the actual process is quite smooth. The needle doesn’t prick very deep. Also, if your PMU artist is skilled, you don’t have to worry about getting pain or discomfort.
You just need to wrap your head around the fact that microblading is slightly invasive. Ideally, the PMU expert will sanitize the area and then apply a numbing cream. After that, you might just feel a funny, tingling sensation while the 30-45 minutes procedure is on.
Finally, you will get a new set of eyebrows that appears more thick and voluminous than before. Before getting the process done, you need to discuss with the PMU expert what you want the exact result to be. Do you just want to fill in the sparse areas? Do you wish to correct the arch? You need to be clear about it from the start.
Lastly, the PMU results last between 6 months to 2 years. The individual results will vary based on skin type, facial products you use, lifestyle, and so on.
Ombre Powder Brows- What is it?
This technique involves drawing microdots with the handheld PMU device in the targeted areas, instead of creating clear hair-like strokes. This is more about micro shading and not microblading. It is much less invasive than microblading.
The result of ombre powder brows is much softer and more subtle as compared to microblading results. However, it can be customized depending on the client. If they want a more solid look, it can be attained.
Talking about the longevity of the results, they last longer in the case of ombre powder brows. The client will need an initial touchup after two months, after which the results last more than 1.5-2 years.
The Biggest differences between Microblading and Powder ombre brows
- Microblading is best suited for people who just wish to fill up their sparse eyebrows with hair-like strokes. The strokes will blend with the natural hair and give the illusion of having denser hair growth. Microblading is best suited for people having normal skin (not too oily or dry). Oily skin folks might have to get their microbladed eyebrows retouched more often. Microblading on oily skin doesn’t give the best results because there is a chance of color-bleeding. The artist may be skilled. Despite that, nobody can guarantee that the hair strokes will be neat and crisp on oily skin. In that scenario, micro shading is recommended instead of microblading.
- The healing time for Microblading is longer than for powder ombre brows. It’s because microblading is more invasive compared to microshading aka powdered brows. In the case of microblading, the pigment is settled deeper into the epidermis as compared to ombre brows, which is why it will take more time for the eyebrows to heal.
- The results of microblading and powdered ombre brows are also very different aesthetically. If you want to give the impression that you had time to fill in your brows nicely, you should choose microshading.
Hopefully, you now have a fair idea about the differences between Microblading and Powdered ombre brows. In conclusion, we can infer that both these are very different from each other. To determine what’s suitable for someone, we will have to consider the look they want along with their skin type, lifestyle, and so on. Also, the longevity of the results will vary from person to person. Also, you should be sure about the expertise of the PMU artist to avoid disaster- both aesthetically and health-wise.
